Thanks to funding from the Guernsey Community Foundation, La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Guernesiaise have appointed two Education and Conservation Officers.<\/p>\n
Becky Ogier and Sarah Allez began work in their newly-created roles last month, undertaking a new initiative for La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Guernesiaise which aims to support Education Services in the delivery of Environmental Education in Guernsey.<\/p>\n
The pair will be visiting schools and youth organisations, delivering a range of activities and presentations linking Guernsey\u2019s new Nature Strategy to the school curriculum to bring their environmental message to life and inspire children to care for Guernsey\u2019s natural heritage.<\/p>\n
Becky and Sarah will also be encouraging local businesses to make full use of their Corporate Social Responsibility days by accessing La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9\u2019s widened range of useful volunteer activities including surveys on dolphins, crabs, hedgehogs and other animals, clearing invasive plants and repairing bird hides on nature reserves.<\/p>\n
They also plan to revitalise La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9\u2019s junior membership, offering free monthly activities and introducing week-long clubs during school holidays.<\/p>\n
