NATURE GUERNSEY, part of La Société, was set up in 2018 to organise events aimed at families.

As well as engaging existing members, Nature Guernsey aims to introduce the organisation to non-members who may not be aware of the environmental work of La Société Guernesiaise or the benefits of joining.

La Société owns or manages a number of reserves and is the second largest landowner in the island. These reserves are unique in terms of habitat, such as wet orchid meadows, saltmarsh and coastal grazing land. Many of these habitats were in danger of disappearing completely from the island, before La Société purchased or leased the land and is now managing it for wildlife and the enjoyment of future generations

Programmes such as the BBC’s ‘The Watches’, have highlighted the general public’s appetite for wildlife and the environment, and Nature Guernsey hopes to capture that enthusiasm here in the island.

NATURE GUERNSEY organises a variety of guided events showcasing our reserves and other natural areas.
