Guernsey has bird ringing records which date back to the mid 1940s which supplies us with a wealth of information.  \nTo register interest in this event\, please contact Sarah at eca@societe.org.gg with children’s names. \nPlease wear sensible footwear.  \n_  \nAll junior events are free for La Société members. DESCRIPTION:Friday 8th August | 10:00 – 11:30am\, Candie Gardens.  \nNature Guernsey is teaming up with the Guille Alles Library as part of their ‘Summer Reading Challenge’. This year’s theme is ‘Story Garden – adventures in nature and the great outdoors’\, inspiring children to explore enchanting worlds and tap into their imagination through stories.  \nTo celebrate this year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme\, children can join in Story Garden activities including planting\, seed bomb making\, bird feeder making\, nature bingo\, and nature stories. \nTickets will be free and are available through Eventbrite – here \n—— \nNature Guernsey events are free and open to all. Donations are always welcome.  \n————– \n​​NATURE GUERNSEY\, part of La Société\, was set up in 2018 to organise events aimed at families. \nAs well as engaging existing members\, Nature Guernsey aims to introduce the organisation to non-members who may not be aware of the environmental work of La Société or the benefits of joining.

SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Junior Event – 'Search for the Plant Invaders' with Guernsey Conservation Volunteers 🌱
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 9th August | 14:00 – 15:00 | Rocquaine – **** CANCELLED***  \nWe invite our Juniors to join us for an event with Guernsey Conservation Volunteers (GCV) where we will be on the ‘Search for the Plant Invaders’! This will involve removing sour fig shoots (an invasive\, non-native plant!) from Rocquaine. \nGCV successfully completed their goal of 2024 which was to make Rocquaine “free of sour fig”\, and in 2025 they’re committed to keeping this the case! We’re looking forward to lending a helping hand\, so please join us and help to remove this invasive non-native plant which is damaging our island’s environment.  \nSour fig is an invasive non-native plant has a negative impact on our native species. When the plant is removed a variety of native coastal plants  will regrow from existing seeds in the ground\, which in turn will then provide food and shelter for insects and small mammals.
