DESCRIPTION:Saturday 20th July | 14:00 – 15:00 | Rocquaine  \nWe would like to invite our Juniors to join us for a joint event with Guernsey Conservation Volunteers (GCV) where we will be ‘Searching for the Plant Invaders’ by removing sour fig shoots (a non-native plant!) from Rocquaine. \nGCV’s aim this year is to make Rocquaine “free of sour fig by the end of the year” and we’re looking forward to lending a helping hand! Come along and help us remove this invasive non-native plant which is damaging our island’s environment.  \nSour fig is an invasive non-native plant has a negative impact on our native species. When the plant is removed a variety of native coastal plants  will regrow from existing seeds in the ground\, which in turn will then provide food and shelter for insects and small mammals. The stores include archaeological finds\, natural history and artefacts from Guernsey and around the world.  \nDue to the nature of the stores\, it is not possible to take around a large group\, so there will be 4x 40-minute slots available to be booked (we can cater for 1 or 2 families per slot). \nThe slots are as follows:  \n\nSlot 1 – 14:00 – 14:40\nSlot 2 – 14:40 – 15:20\nSlot 3 – 15:20 – 16:00 \nSlot 4 – 16:00 -16:40\n\nPlaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis\, so please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to attend and if you have any preference of slot time\, by emailing Sarah at eca@societe.org.gg with children’s names.  \n
