Meeting at the Motocross (Scramble) Track Carpark.  \nJoin us for a morning bird walk as we look out for migratory birds passing over the island. Our islands come into their own during migration season\, when many birds stop off en route to rest and there is always the chance of bumping into a long-distant vagrant or rarity. September and October are probably the peak months for interesting migrants and one may see good numbers of warblers\, finches\, thrushes\, waders\, seabirds or birds of prey depending on the conditions. \nWe will provide a spotter sheet and try to tick off as many birds as we can on our walk!  \nTo register interest in this event\, please contact Sarah at eca@societe.org.gg with children’s names. \nPlease wear sensible footwear. DESCRIPTION:The Cottage\, Castel\, by kind permission of Mrs. Juliette Hall; and La Chaumière (exterior only). \nAll Winter\, Spring and Autumn meetings begin at 7.30p.m.\, on a Saturday evening\, and will be held at Candie Museum Lecture Theatre or in the adjoining Section Room. Talks will be by John McCormack\, unless stated otherwise. Summer meetings mostly take the form of visits and begin on site at 2.30p.m.. New members are always very welcome to attend\, but should contact John McCormack (tel. 720303; e-mail mrjam@cwgsy.net) beforehand in case of alterations or final instructions. Those attending regularly should ensure that they are already members of La Société.

SUMMARY:Jethou Trip - Members only
DESCRIPTION:We are offering guided walks on Jethou on the mornings of Saturday 13th May and Saturday 27th May.  Each trip will last two hours and forty minutes in total\, consisting of two hours on Jethou plus travel time of 20 minutes each way.  Each walk will have two guides from different Société Sections and the group must stay together; you are not permitted to wander separately from the group.   \n  \nKindly note the following:   \n·         The route follows a part coastal and part woodland path with a section of steep steps without a handrail    \n·         The terrain can be demanding and requires agility and sure footedness   \n·         The walk must be completed in the time allocated (2 hours) due to the scheduled boat times    \n·         Stout walking shoes/boots are required    \n·         Bring water\, sun cream and any other refreshments and medication you might need   \n·         The only visitors’ toilet is near the jetty\, there are no facilities on the route   \n·         The trip is not suitable for children   \n·         There are no first aid facilities on the island but your guides will carry a small first aid kit for minor injuries. \n   \nPlease consider the above as a minimum when deciding if this trip is suitable for you.   \n  \nThe cost is £35 plus a booking fee per person with a maximum of 10 people per group plus two guides.  Booking through Eventbrite.   \n  \nSaturday 13th May  \nDepart Guernsey 8.30am for Ornithology   \nDepart Guernsey 9.20am for General Natural History \nDepart Guernsey 10.10am for Entomology \n  \nPlease click on this link to book for Saturday 13th May https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jethou-trip-one-tickets-623895527317 \n  \nPlease note that for insurance reasons the trip is for Members only. New Members are welcome to join at www.societe.org.gg    \n  \nThe boat will depart from the inter-island quay – where the Herm and Sark boats leave from.
