DESCRIPTION:Nature Guernsey – Bird Watching Day Drop In 🐦\nSaturday 11th October | from 8:00am – 5:00pm\, La Claire Mare Nature Reserve \nJoin Nature Guernsey for a day of bird watching where we try to identify as many bird species as possible during the day. We’re hoping to spot at least 50 species throughout the day – come along and be a part of the fun!  \nLa Claire Mare is one the island’s premier reserves for bird and is comprised of wet grassland\, reedbeds and open water. Pop by to learn more about this site\, how it supports our local bird life and\, most importantly\, help us to identify the species we see!  \nOur Ornithology experts will be stationed at the reserve from 5am and on call throughout the day to help identify the birds we see. They will also be leading small walks across to the Shingle Bank.  \nBirdwatching provides huge amounts of data to conservation research and this event is an ideal opportunity to get outside\, enjoy some beautiful natural surroundings and give attention to these amazing flying creatures. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert\, everyone is welcome. 🐦 Bring along some binoculars if you have them\, or if not\, some will be provided.  \nNature Guernsey events are free and open to all. DESCRIPTION:Sunday 7th September | 9:00am – 1:00pm\, La Societe Fields at Pleinmont Headland (Location here)  \nOur annual Nature Guernsey Family Day will take place on Sunday 7th September at Pleinmont Headland. \nWhether your family is interested in flowers\, birds\, moths\, bugs or bats\, loves our environment and enjoys craft activities\, this is the place to be.  🌍🌼💚🌸🐞🦇🌿🐦🦋 \nNature Guernsey events are free and open to all. Donations are always welcome.  \n—— \nThroughout the day there will be guided walks and activities such as moth trap emptying\, guided bird walks\, bug hunts\, insect walks\,  displays\, games and craft activities.  \n  \n9am – 9:30am – Moth Trap Emptying  \n9.30 – 10.30  – Guided Bird Walk  \n10am – 11am – Children’s Bug Hunt  \n  \nOngoing activities throughout the morning: – Bird Ringing Demonstrations – Dolphin Watch & Surveying\nChildren’s Activities: – Make a bug hotel- Create a nature collage- Colouring \n————– \n​​NATURE GUERNSEY\, part of La Société\, was set up in 2018 to organise events aimed at families. \nAs well as engaging existing members\, Nature Guernsey aims to introduce the organisation to non-members who may not be aware of the environmental work of La Société or the benefits of joining.

SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Junior Event – 'Search for the Plant Invaders' with Guernsey Conservation Volunteers 🌱
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 9th August | 14:00 – 15:00 | Rocquaine – **** CANCELLED***  \nWe invite our Juniors to join us for an event with Guernsey Conservation Volunteers (GCV) where we will be on the ‘Search for the Plant Invaders’! This will involve removing sour fig shoots (an invasive\, non-native plant!) from Rocquaine. \nGCV successfully completed their goal of 2024 which was to make Rocquaine “free of sour fig”\, and in 2025 they’re committed to keeping this the case! We’re looking forward to lending a helping hand\, so please join us and help to remove this invasive non-native plant which is damaging our island’s environment.  \nSour fig is an invasive non-native plant has a negative impact on our native species. When the plant is removed a variety of native coastal plants  will regrow from existing seeds in the ground\, which in turn will then provide food and shelter for insects and small mammals.
