DESCRIPTION:La Société – Conservation Volunteer Event- Practical Work on our Nature Reserves –  Raking at Pre D’Enfer 🌱\nTuesday 11th August | 10:00am – approx. 12:00pm\, Pre D’Enfer \nParticipants Needed: minimum 6 – maximum 10 volunteers  \n  \nWe invite our Conservation Volunteers (any La Société member!) to join us to help us rake our wet meadow at Pre D’Enfer.  \nThis is one of our smaller reserves along Rue des Bergers (in the lanes behind the Fleur de Jardin\, Kings Mills). This site is a wet meadow which we rake once a year to prevent any loss of habitation and support the expansion of existing habitats. The cutting and raking such as this stops habitats from becoming overgrown and then becoming lost\, which in turn then allows the existing areas to thrive so it can continue to host it’s range of unique and rare plants\, insects and birds – in this instance such as Southern marsh orchids which flower on this site in Spring.  \n  \nPlease email Becky at ecl@societe.org.gg to register for this event.  \n  \nClothing: Please wear practical appropriate clothing you don’t mind potentially getting dirty and sturdy shoes\, ideally wellies. If you have a pair of gardening gloves please bring them along\, if not some will be provided.  \n—————

DESCRIPTION:La Société Members – Volunteer Event – Coastal Clean up & Beach Clean at Cobo Bay (after the Balcony gig) 🌊\nMonday 13th July | 11:00am – 12:30\, Cobo Bay.  \nWe invite our members to join us for a coastal clean up and beach clean! We’ve scheduled this event for after the Cobo Balcony gig to make sure our coastal areas stay clean and no harmful trace is left on our beaches.  \nThe vast majority of marine litter collected in our local beach cleans is plastic. Marine wildlife comes face-to-face with our plastic habit every day and it’s destroying our seas and the wonderful wildlife living there. Help us to clean up our beaches and stop rubbish polluting our ocean by joining us at this event. \nWe will meet in carpark by Mims Kiosk here – location meeting point \nPlease wear sensible footwear and if you have some\, bring a pair of gloves (some will be provided if you don’t have any). DESCRIPTION:La Société Members – Conservation Volunteer Event- Practical Work on our Nature Reserves –  Hemlock Water-dropwort Removal  🌱\nThursday 1st May | 10:00am – 12:00pm\, Bridget Ozanne Orchid Fields at Les Vicheries. \nWe invite our Conservation Volunteers (any La Société member!) to join us to help us remove Hemlock Water-dropwort from our Orchid Fields.  \nThis network of 15 meadows has been managed by traditional methods for many years; no artificial fertilisers\, herbicides or pesticides have been used\, very little cultivation has taken place and the fields have not been ploughed since WWII.
