What is the Asian Hornet Strategy and is it working?
November 13 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Francis Russell, Project Coordinator of the Asian Hornet Strategy at Agriculture, Countryside and Land Management Services at the States of Guernsey will give a presentation on the Asian hornet strategy for Guernsey on Wednesday 13th November beginning at 7.30pm at the Frossard Theatre, Candie Gardens, St Peter Port.
The aim of the Asian Hornet Strategy is to prevent the establishment of Asian hornets in Guernsey in order to minimise their risk to public health and our islands biodiversity.
This presentation covers the actions taken since this invasive, non-native insect first appeared in Guernsey in 2017.
Francis Russell’s presentation will describe the life cycle of this apex predator and explain the methods adopted to limit its colonisation.
In explaining the aims and objectives of the Asian hornet strategy, the talk will describe additional resources that may be required, and highlight the importance of sharing information and experiences within the Channel Islands and the UK.
