“Tectonic, Climate and Sea-Level Processes in Relationship to Archaeological and Historical Habitation/Occupation of the Landscape” by Dr John Renouf
This lecture will describe the processes which led to the Channel Islands becoming detached from mainland Europe and the implications of this for human occupation. Jersey has a famous Neanderthal site at La Cotte de St Brelade and some recently discovered Upper Palaeolithic sites – what is the likelihood of finding similar sites in Guernsey?
Dr John Renouf is a Jersey geologist at the forefront of research into Quaternary sea-levels and related changes in the Normanno-Breton Gulf.
