Astronomical Observatory Open Evening

July 25 @ 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm

The Astronomical Observatory of La Société Guernesiaise will be open on Thursday 25 July 2019 from 9.00pm.

There will be talks and slide-shows, and observing through the telescopes if clear.  There is no need to book; just drop in.

The planets Jupiter (with its four brightest moons) and Saturn (with its rings) will be visible, as well as many other objects.

Members will point out the constellations and interesting objects in the night sky.

The Observatory is in La Rue du Lorier, St Pierre-du-Bois. Perry’s Guide reference 21 E3.  Parking is usually available at La Houguette School, Rue des Paysans.

From the school, follow the signs: go 100 yards up the road, then left onto Rue du Lorier, then immediately right, behind a large bunker.

The road is dark, so a torch and high-visibility clothing are advisable.

The Observatory is run by volunteer members of La Société Guernesiaise. Donations (suggest adults £2, children £1) are welcomed to assist with running costs.
